Nick has been with us for almost a month now. His anniversary date with us for a whole month will be March 4. He is learning to be calm and be loved. He is rarely still but sometimes we can get him to be quiet and get pictures.
The pictures here are of him laying on top of me snuggling.
He has now been neutered and treated for heartworms and will go on heartworm prevention in a couple of weeks.
We love you, Nick.

snow pictures from 3-1-09

Snow is uncommon in Alabama, especially in the middle portion.
The darker pictures were taken around 5 am CST.
The pasture snow picture was taken about 10:30 am CST.
Us and the critters are hanging in the warmth of the house.

Nick incoming and homecoming

Nick comes to us as a cruelty dog. His story is still pending but he is now our dog. Nick came in at 38 lbs on February 4. On February 9, just 5 days after he was rescued, he now weighs 47 lbs. He has been integrated into our pack of 7 basset hounds, one mixed rottie, and a mini doxie very well. When he was introduced our cats, he just sniffed them and went about his business. He has already learned to give sugar to us and is doing remarkably well.
Welcome home, Nick!

our newest addition, a doberman

Nick as he is now called is our newest addition. Nick was a cruelty dog rescued by a local humane society officer whom i happen to know. Well due to lack of funding, Nick was almost put down with a bad case of heartworms. Nick is a young adult intact male and only weighed 38 lbs at intake. He will be neutered and get a much needed dental as soon as he gains 10 lbs. He will also be treated for heartworms at that time.
My husband had mentioned just recently wanting a doberman so i called him and told him Nick's story. So we decided to give it a try. I took Nick to our vet where he is right now and he will be picked up next week when my hubby can pick him up himself. Nick will be his dog and they need some bonding time.
Remember that these are the first pictures taken of Nick coming from a cruelty situation. He wont look like this for long. I will repost more pictures once he has had some time to gain weight.
lets welcome Nick to his new forever home.

Dogster Diary of the Day

All my dogs have dogster pages. You can go to www.dogster.com to either create a page for your dog or catster for your cat and enjoy the pet lives of other pets.
This morning when i woke up, i found an email saying that Lucy's diary was diary of the day.
We are so excited. Lucy has had pup pal request and some dogster gifts given too.

Houndies lovin life

Devon is one of our male bassets. Willie is our miniature dachshund. Willie either loves Devon or prefers to try to dominate Devon. We just arent sure. Quite often Willie sleeps right up next to Devon or lays on top of him. This morning i got this picture of them sleeping together and just had to share.

Amelia's new home

Amelia was adopted to a lady who ended up in a domestic violence relationship. After she separated from her husband, Amelia needed a new home where she could be loved and spoiled. While i fostered Amelia for about 6 weeks, i knew she was here to stay.
Amelia is the perfect dog. She doesnt get into anything. She just prefers to snuggle.
Amelia's official gotcha day is December 18, 2008
